Collection: Scarlette Ateliers
Scarlette Ateliers was born by the brand's founder, Pauline Bijvoet, in Safdarjung Enclave New Delhi, behind the white façade overgrown with bougainvillea and pierced by a terrazzo bay window, on the veranda, in the scent of Basanti's chocolate cake, between conversations with an adventurer of Mughal forts and an explorer of the Nehru Place fabric market. Opened in 2016 for guests who have just stepped out of the airport or one of the trains that criss-cross the peninsula, Scarlette Boutique Hotel in New Delhi is a mellow oasis with a French-Indian feel.
The first bed linen collection was designed, followed by: table linen, kimonos and pyjamas - everything to feel as comfortable at home as in India.
The designer and mother of the ateliers, Pauline Bijvoet, landed in New Delhi three years earlier in the company of a Parisian fashion designer. From then on, she followed her everywhere, between looms, delivery appointments, cotton markets, printers, tables under mango trees and feet in the red earth. Pauline fell in love with the city and its people and decided to stay there. In her mind and heart remain the voices of her numerous family, her grandfather's old-fashioned scented roses, the big dinners and beautiful table decorations, Granny's recipes, her mother's bouquets, walks on the beach with her sister, the local market, Sunday lunches with uncles and aunts...
Scarlette Ateliers designs home textiles and nightwear. Her cotton fabrics are designed in Paris and hand-woven, printed and embroidered between the south of peninsular India and Rajasthan. They are designed with love and respect for the people who make and use them, using time-honoured traditions, and made with the utmost care and using the highest quality source materials.
A love story between croissant and paratha, pot-au-feu and butter chicken, Paris and New Delhi.
