16ème Sud

16ème Sud is the first vintage jewellery brand to join the By Adushka family. The designer behind this brand is Catherine Tisseuil, a strong women with values that amazed us right from the start. Her idea is to bring out the jewellery naturally, without affecting the DNA of the object. Catherine is always looking for antique objects, especially in flea markets, to reuse in her creations - so 16ème Sud is basically a jewellery collection made from forgotten silverware in attics and cupboards, transformed into jewels to reclaim their place in every day life. 16ème Sud is clean, the designer doesn't use any process that is polluting and she tries to maintain the objects as simple as she can. The creations are mainly handmade in the label's atelier in Paris and the use of electricity is reduced to a minimum. The materials used are always waste materials and upcycling is practiced to give rise to unique creations. 

From heritage to quirkiness

Catherine Tisseuil, the designer, was inspired by the generous and contemporary forms of silverware when seen from a jeweller's perspective. Thus was born a surprising collection featuring a tumbler transformed into a cuff, a napkin ring into a bracelet, spoons into a necklace. The creations evade classical cultural codes and play up their ambivalence - they are both traditional and iconoclastic, sumptuous and modest. These creations evoke the nostalgia associated with sentimentalism of childhood objects, the sensuality of food, and bring these emotions into daily life, to be passed on to the next generation. It's all in the way we see things, who says that an antique matchbox cannot become a perfect piece of jewellery for men and women of all ages? That's exactly what we love about 16ème Sud.
