New Moon in Libra

New Moon in Libra

How can you nourish the relationship to yourself?

By Inés Kelly

The New Moon is a time when the Sun and the Moon meet. In astrology, this is known as a conjunction, when two energetic entities come in alignment. With both astrological signs under the moon’s influence, this creates a harmonious constellation.

In ancient cultures, the Sun was often seen as masculine energy, whereas the feminine was lived through the Moon. Having both aspects of the masculine and the feminine combined as one for the night of the New Moon is what allows us to go deeper within ourselves. The need for rest, reflection, and introspection is deeper than usual. Our subconscious meets our conscious mind. The unknown, the unseen, which is symbolized by the moon, is seen, shed light on by the Sun.

New Moon

The New Moon marks the beginning of a lunar cycle, known as day one of the 29 days the moon ebbs and flows throughout her various phases. And with day comes the expectations of what we desire to see manifest in the days, phases, weeks ahead. With this void in the night sky, the Universe is more receptive than usual to receive the seeds of intentions that we desire to see be planted, sprout, grow and flourish.

Libra Season

We are currently in the sun season of Libra from 22nd of September - 22nd of October making both the Sun and Moon meet in said sign. Making the New Moon in the air sign, Libra.

The element of air which is further embodied by the signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are inspired driven beings. Air connects, inspires, muses, delivering us a deep fresh of air after the earth season of Virgo. Air quality is often innovative, communicative, connective, and has a peripheral view to life. They see many different sides of one piece of information. They are highly drawn and connected oftentimes to the arts and inspiration is their business.

Libra is represented by the scales demanding justice and fairness. Ruled by the planet of Venus, she is what creates for harmonious relationships, deep connections, partnerships and beauty for all things. This air sign is highly aesthetic in everything they do. As every coin has two sides, Libra’s low expression is the one of indecisiveness and people-pleasing out of the fear of ruining the harmony.

New Moon in Libra

On a New Moon in Libra, I invite you to strengthen the first relationship you have - the one to your Self. I write “self” with a capital S, because I am speaking to your higher Self, the part of you that knows your worth so innately and values you as you deserve to be valued.

If our relationship to Self is distorted, so will the rest of our relationships be. How we treat ourselves, is how we treat others. I encourage you to get to know your Self, have an intimate relationship with this person, understand who you are, why you are here, and what you have to contribute to this divine planet of ours. That is the most valuable asset you will ever possess - the one of self-knowledge, compassion and understanding.

I am not saying that I have at all mastered this, yet I am coming to terms with myself as the journey continues for myself as a human having an human experience in this lifetime of mine. This is part of the journey, the release of perfectionism, which we have learned from the season in Virgo behind us. Now we move into the season of self-love and innovation. Reinvent yourself and love yourself up along the way.

The more you are on good terms with yourself, truly at peace with who you are, the more this will enmante into your personal relationships. The relationships we have in life can be an indicator of how we treasure ourselves. Not that relationships need to be always in harmony and on good terms, as every relationship moves through its own periods and phases.

Mercury retrograde

We are also currently in Mercury Retrograde known as a phase where technological hiccups, miscommunication and overall plan changes can happen. During this time be mindful where your energy is going. Mercury, which normally has a fast pace to things, is now in retrograde, making things unfold slower than usual. It is therefore a time to wind down in all regards. Where are you being resistant to how things are unfolding for you? Where is your patience being tested?

It is on one side, possibly a technological challenging time. The unexpected is to be expected. Yet on the other side, it is a time of deep introspection of allowing things to come to completion. Finish what you started is my mantra during Mercury Retrograde. Take things step by step, slowly, and allow it to unfold naturally in divine timing and not take things too seriously when things don’t flow as desired.

Shamanic Moon Ritual

The New Moon calls us to be with ourselves. Just like she equally takes a step back and what appears for her to disappear for a night.

Take the time to be with yourself on a night like tonight. Listen to what your body, mind, Soul, and heart needs.

The fastest way back to ourselves, to our core essence is through our breath. Having a moon in an air sign is our invitation to reconnect through our breath.

I invite you to take a moment to breathe deeply in and out through your nose and with each exhalation make a sound, sigh or yawn. Count to the number 7 if it helps to really lengthen and deepen your breath. Breathe deeply in and out at least 10 times. Have your eyes closed and place your hands over your heart or womb. Any other breathing techniques are welcome here. Allow your breath to guide you back home within your Self.

Then when you are ready, engage with your deepest intentions this Libra season with the following journaling prompts:

♎︎ How can you indulge in your own company tonight?
♎︎ How can you nourish the relationship to yourself?
♎︎ What New Moon intentions feel in harmony with your heart?

Place your New Moon intentions somewhere you can see them everyday throughout this lunar cycle. Know that these words hold vibrations that will elevate the energy in your space.

May you find your way back to your Self on this New Moon in Libra. May this energy seep through to all your other relationships in your life.

For deeper journeying into one Self, I invite you to join my New Moon Circle on Wednesday, 6 October 2021 at 20:00 CET with our online tribe, La Luna Circle.
